While in the nearby city of Dusseldorf the doors are opening for GIFA 2007, the world's largest international foundry exhibition, high rank scientists, technologists, entrepreneurs and representatives of universities and institutions from Germany and India are meeting behind closed doors in the premises of DIAMANT, Moenchengladbach to discuss and launch mutually new projects for technology- and knowledge transfer.

The name of the event "1st Rhine-India-Day" has a double meaning in German: on one hand it symbolizes the German regions at the river Rhine and on the other hand it documents that these are "mere" (rein) Indo-German projects which are partially sponsored by AIF association of industrial research unions "Otto von Guericke" e.V. (Berlin).

The AiF sponsors research and development to benefit small and medium enterprises networking innovations supported by industries, sciences and government offering a close-to-practice innovation consulting. Aif as a carrier of the industrial common research and further sponsoring programmes of the federal government of Germany cares for the productivity of SMEs.
